Level Up Your Therapy:
Integrating Digital Play and AI into Modern Play Therapy

This comprehensive Digital Play Therapy (TM) training is designed for play therapists seeking to deepen their understanding of integrating digital tools into therapeutic play sessions. As digital technology becomes more central to children's lives, it is vital for play therapists to adapt their approaches and offer therapeutic play that resonates with today’s digital-native generation.

In this 6-hour training, participants will explore the neurological underpinnings of digital play therapy, learning how it affects the brain and supports therapeutic goals like emotional regulation, cognitive development, and creativity. The training will also delve into key clinical and philosophical concepts, emphasizing how digital play therapy aligns with traditional play therapy theories and practices.

Participants will learn practical strategies for incorporating a range of technologies—from computers and mobile devices to virtual reality—into their play therapy practice. Real-world use cases and experiential exercises will demonstrate how digital tools can be used to foster emotional expression, problem-solving, and therapeutic co-play. Special attention will be given to exploring common play therapy themes and leveraging the therapeutic powers of play in digital contexts.

The session will also address common challenges, such as engaging parents who may be hesitant about digital play, and provide solutions for therapists with limited access to gaming systems or tablets in their playrooms. Ethical considerations, including informed consent, privacy concerns, and managing screen time in a therapeutic setting, will also be explored.

Additionally, participants will be introduced to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into Digital Play Therapy, examining how AI can be used to enhance both administrative tasks and therapeutic interventions while ensuring ethical use.

By the end of the training, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and resources to confidently integrate digital play and AI tools into their play therapy sessions, enhancing their ability to connect with children and support their emotional and cognitive well-being.
